My thoughts on life, love, and other things not so serious.

You know those people that you wish you “knew”? You might read their books, hear them speak, or watch them from afar, and they just seem like they would be so cool to “know”. Like… hang out with, go to dinner with, watch football with. People that just seem like they would be a lot of fun to be around.

Well, Lanny Donoho is one of those people. The dude is hilarious… he seems down to earth, and he’s typically brutally honest. His book: God’s Blogs is absolutely hilarious, yet utterly insightful. I wish I “knew” Lanny… that would be fun.

You can understand why I was excited when I discovered that he had just recently began to Twitter. The excitement doubled when I realized that he started blogging a couple of months ago. He has now assumed a prominent place on the list of “Blogs I Dig” to the left.

If you want a glance inside Lanny’s head, read his first blog post here. If you want more, add him to your RSS and enjoy the ride! In the meantime, I’m curious… who is the person you watch from afar that you wish you “knew”?

    hey.
well gosh….i am just humbled. seriously.
so here ya go. the whole twitter thing is a bit weird to me but if i am gonna stay up with what the heck is going on out there i thought i ought to learn how to do it. i don’t wanna just tell people where i am eating or that i just went to the dentist or i hope the colts win the world series.
i hope you read all the blog posts cuz that is what i want to do. let people see what god is doing to the point that they might just weep. i cried a lot when i was writing them. not all of em… some of them are just for my own weird entertainment.

so…i got twitter-tutored a bit and i thought i would give it a whirl. hoping to make people smile a bit and then really hoping to drive them to the site where i hope i can keep posting some unbelievable God stories.
Got frustrated trying to figure out how to tweet….then my in-box got all full of crap i had never seen before which was people who are “following me” so now i have all this pressure ….
people follow you …you gotta go somewhere.

but then…hey…here is this post from this guy i dont know saying good things about me so….hey….thanks for making my last two hour worth it.
if you have a lot of folks reading your stuff , send them over and tell em to read the blog posts from the beginning. i just like to see people cry and laugh.
i have never written this much stuff in one setting ever. so ….we are friends now,
but hey….don’t make me get a restraining order. ;-)

    Lanny,

Wow, thanks for the comment. Good to see you interacting in the digital world.

Your thoughts on Twitter are accurate. It can be pretty creepy if used in the manner of: “Woke up, got dressed, breakfast, shower, work, lunch, work, shower, dinner, bed.” It can also be very useful for getting info on the fly, and knowing what’s going on in the world around you (or far from you).

I’m working my way through your blog from the beginning. I love the stories you are sharing. It’s clear you are concerned with magnifying God’s redemptive story via the stories on your blog… I love it!

Finally, You found and commented on my post within 12 hours… maybe I should get the restraining order! ;)

Welcome to my blog, thanks for stopping by. You'll find all kinds of interesting stuff here... I hope you'll stick around for a while and jump into the conversation by leaving a comment.
