My thoughts on life, love, and other things not so serious.

Three down and two to go (well… one if you count this one). Read the previous few posts on this blog for context and details on the below points.

Top 5 things I am looking forward to regarding the Guatemala mission’s trip:

#5) Traveling to another country.
#4) Climbing a volcano.
#3) Hanging with the team from Journey Church
#2) Scouting Long Term Mission’s Opportunity for Journey Church – I’m really excited about this one. Instead of writing about it, I’m just going to steal what Tom has already written.
Part of the reason I am going on this trip is to scout out potential projects for Journey Church to own over the next several years.  Since Journey Church started, we have cast a vision for our mission to reach outside the US, but we wanted to take a very targeted approach with our mission dollars and effort.  It is our hope that we can adopt a couple villages in Guatemala and make a real difference in the coming years.  We hope to build feeding centers, install clean cooking devices, and bring clean water to many people.

Top 5 fears regarding the trip to Guatemala:

#5) Flying
#4) Getting Sick
#3) Feeling Useless
#2) Losing My Luggage – Do you want me to be honest? Yes? Okay. Truth be told, that’s a pretty weak fear. I’m worried about it, but not scared about it. Truth is… it’s 7:50, and I’ve had a full day, and desired to post this hours ago. Now my evening is in full effect, and the Olympics are about to begin. This opening ceremony is going to rock the world.

Come back tomorrow for #1 on both lists!

  1. Rindy Walton Said,

I can’t wait to hear how it goes!! We’re in Cincy now so will have to catch up again!

  2. Rusty Said,

Luke, I am just finishing up two weeks in Kenya. This is my second trip in the last two years and it has been an amazing time. I encourage you in your adventure and pray that God will bless you as you bless others. Enjoy you time, you won’t get sick, you will have the time of your life. One word of advice. Don’t ask what you are eating, just eat it…

    Buenos dias muchacho

  3. luke Said,

    Rindy,

We’d love to connect with you & Paul again. Hope things are going great for Walls Down Church!

    Rusty,

That connection you guys have made with Kenya is fantastic. We can see a similar connection happening with us and the country of Guatemala. We are having a great trip so far…. and I haven’t been asked to eat anything suspect to this point!

Thanks for your prayers and encouragement.
