My thoughts on life, ministry, and other things that are not so serious.

Is God Enough?

I want to hear your thoughts on this video. What does it say to you? What does it stir inside of you? Tell me in the comments.

  1. Mikey Said,

I heard this talk from John Piper about a year ago and was deeply moved. The passion and urgency behind it are so real. For the most part I greatly agree with John and his view on the prosperity gospel; in that, it’s a false gospel. In it is presented a faulty understanding of Atonement, giving, and biblical interpretation. The prosperity gospel leaves people spiritually and theologically bankrupt. It sounds so harsh, but it’s brutal honesty of my feeling on the matter the video presented. I could write more about the subject and mention names, but I will refrain.

Here are a few scripture passages to read about the subject:

    1 Timothy 6:7-10
    1 Timothy 6:3-5
    Matthew 6:19-21

  2. Scott Said,

Wow… absolutely incredible. Talk about stirring up emotion and thought provoking. Not that it was anything new me; but, that it is clearly how I’ve been feeling about many of the health/wealth ministers that are exploding in growth across America today. I agree wholeheartedly with Mikey when he shared that it is a false gospel. Unfortunately, people with itching ears that have the hunger for the perfect life are flocking to these men/women.

My question, is simply this… what happens to those people when the health and wealth does not take place for them, or what happens when their lives are torn apart due to a crisis. Do they fully rely upon God then, or do they turn away from Him, because of the suffering that has occurred?

For many of the people that I have talked with and ministered to over the years, they have ran from God because of the crisis and have grown cold to the church in general. Countless people tell me that every week, while others question how such a prosperity gospel can even exist due to their personal circumstances.

Welcome to my blog, thanks for stopping by. You'll find all kinds of interesting stuff here... I hope you'll stick around for a while and jump into the conversation by leaving a comment.
