(First off, Sorry for the blogging break. The past couple of weeks have been spent traveling, and jumping back into the full swing of the Fall ministry season at Journey Church.)
I’ve made some recent book & music purchases that have me excited about what I will learn & experience over the next few months. Check out the recent additions to my library and let me know what you think in the comments!
Music: (Loving some of these new tunes)
- OK Now – Jon McLaughlin – Just purchased Jon’s new album this morning. Can’t wait to give it a few full listens and hear what he’s created in the time since his outstanding first release, Indiana.
- The Glass Passenger – Jack’s Mannequin – In college, “Something Corporate” was one of my favorite bands. Now Andrew (lead singer) has been off on his own for a while. I love what I’ve heard so far from this 2nd album!
- Under Summer Sun – Matt Wertz – Matt’s music was meant to be listened to in the summertime. Unfortunately, the album didn’t come out until late summer… still a great listen though!
- The Bright Sadness – Charlie Hall – Hands down the best album currently out in the “worship” genre. Charlie delivers in a big way both musically and lyrically with this gem!
- Hello Love – Chris Tomlin – Tomlin is God’s cheerleader. This album is a collection of anthems that churches all over the world will be singing in a few months. Great stuff.
Books: (I’m really pumped about some of these… can’t wait to read them)
- IT – Craig Groeschel – Craig is one of my favorite pastors, authors, & bloggers. His latest book will surely stretch me as all of his previous ones have.
- Crazy Love – Francis Chan – Francis has quickly become one of the leading voices for this generation of young people. I can’t wait to read his first book!
- Axiom – Bill Hybels – You always know what your going to get with Hybels…. convicted.
- Wild Goose Chase – Mark Batterson – First it was Lions, now it’s a goose. Batterson is the man… his thoughts on the Holy Spirit will surely be provoking and beneficial.
I’ll try to do some recaps of some of these pieces as I read and listen to them. I’d love to hear what you’re reading & listening to currently. If nothing, grab one of these books and lets read together!
Crazy Love: Hard read. Well, easy read in that I couldn’t put it down. Hard read in that Chan asks some difficult questions for sure.
Currently reading the new Rob Bell: Jesus Wants to Save Christians Too (or something very close to that). Between him and Chan I don’t know which way is up anymore. Lots of challenges from both books.
Po,
I’m three chapters in, and can affirm your sentiments about Crazy Love.
Can’t wait to finish it, and apply what I’m taking in.
